Mass is cel­e­brated in St. Anne’s Church at 10 a.m Mon­day to Satur­day. Dur­ing July and Au­gust there will be no Evening Mass at 7.30 p.m Mon­day to Fri­day. Week­end mass times are 6.30 p.m. Satur­day Vigil mass and Sun­day at 8 a.m., (9am in St. Colum­cille’s Hospi­tal), 10.30 a.m. (fam­ily mass), mid­day and 6 p.m. Con­fes­sions are heard on Satur­days af­ter the 10 a.m. mass, be­tween 12.30 p.m. and 1 p.m. and af­ter the 6.30 p.m. mass.

Ex­po­si­tion of the Blessed Sacra­ment takes place each Tues­day af­ter the 10 a.m. mass un­til 11 a.m. Mirac­u­lous Medal De­vo­tions take place at the Mon­day 10 a.m. mass.

Bap­tisms take place in St. Anne’s Church at 12.45 p.m. on the first Sun­day of the Month and at 5 p.m. on the sec­ond, third and fourth Satur­days of the month. A month’s no­tice is re­quired. Please con­tact Parish Sec­re­tary Fran Cun­ning­ham in St. Anne’s Parish Of­fice to make your ar­range­ments.

The Parish Of­fice is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mon­day, Tues­day, Thurs­day and Fri­day. St. Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre is open from 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each week­day.

Week­day evening Masses re­sume on Mon­day Septem­ber 15th and not on Septem­ber 8th as pre­vi­ously an­nounced.

Cel­e­bra­tions to mark the 75th An­niver­sary of the open­ing of St. Anne’s be­gan last Sun­day evening with a 6pm Open Air Mass in the car park of Scoil Mhuire in place of the nor­mal Sun­day 6pm Mass in St. Anne’s Church. (Septem­ber 2nd) Last night (Tues­day) Tom Dodd pre­sented his lec­ture ‘Re­mem­ber­ing Fr. James Sher­win – Shankill’s First Parish Priest ‘ in St .Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre at 8pm while tonight ( Wed­nes­day) James Scan­nell will present his lec­ture ‘Shankill His­tory High­lights ‘ at 8pm in the same venue.

To­mor­row night ( Thurs­day) the Ju­bilee Din­ner Dance Takes place at 7.30pm in Fitz­patrick’s Caste Ho­tel – tick­ets are ¤45 each and avail­able from St. Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre.

On Satur­day af­ter­noon there will be a pro­ces­sion from Shankill Li­brary , at 5.30pm where the first Masses in Shankill were held, via New Vale and the vil­lage to St. Anne’s Church for for­mal Mass at 6.30pm. The week of cel­e­bra­tions ends on Sun­day with a Heal­ing Mass in St. Anne’s Church at 12 Noon.

Farewell to Fr. John Egan: Fr.John Egan de­parts from the parish this week for the Pal­lat­tine mother house in Thurles, Co. Tip­per­ary, where he will be in­volved in the cre­ation of a new spir­i­tual cen­tre.

Last Sun­day Fr. John said his farewells to parish­ioners at a gath­er­ing in St.Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre af­ter the 6pm Open Air Mass in Scoil Mhuire. We wish Fr. John all the best for the fu­ture.


Ser­vices of Wor­ship in Rath­michael Church for this Sun­day (The Six­teeneth Sun­day af­ter Trin­ity) are at 8.30am Holy Com­mu­nion, 11am Holy Com­mu­nion and 7pm Evening Prayer - Lec­tor Ms. Jane Mur­phy.


This Satur­day many weeks of plan­ning and pre­par­ing for the Rath­michael Parish Fete Com­mit­tee un­der Chair­per­son Frank Thorn­burgh and Nigel Cooper, Mark Kenny, Frank O’Kennedy, Ms. Emma Parker, Ms. Caro­line Se­nior, Ms. Anne Thomp­son, Ms. Ann Thorn­bor­ough and Peter Wil­liams, sup­ported by nu­mer­ous parish­ioner, will come to a suc­cess­ful con­clu­sion when the gates of Rath­michael School open at 12 Noon to ad­mit all those who will be at­tend­ing this year’s event to avail of the many great bar­gain and at­trac­tions that make it known as Shankill’s ‘ Fete of the Year.’

The com­mit­tee has been work­ing very hard for many weeks and this week the tempo has in­creased as stall man­agers and their as­sis­tants pre­pare their stalls so that ev­ery­thing is ready to go at 12 Noon when this event, a vi­tal fund raiser for Rath­michael parish, gets un­der way.

Tra­di­tion­ally the Shankill Com­mu­nity has al­ways sup­ported this great event and the com­mit­tee hope that they will sur­pass the funds raised last year. So on Satur­day make a point of call­ing into Rath­michael School be­tween 12 Noon and 4 p.m. and sup­port this great event.

This week the mar­quees have been go­ing up in the grounds of Rath­michael School so peo­ple will still be able to shop in shel­ter un­til they drop if rain in form, shape or quan­tity at­tempts to put a dam­per on this great com­mu­nity event.


Meet­ings of the Shankill Guild ICA takes place at 8 p.m. on the sec­ond Mon­day of each month in the Shankill Old Folks As­so­ci­a­tion Day Cen­tre , Lower Road, Shankill. The Guild’s Ac­tiv­ity Night takes place at 8 p.m. on the third Mon­day of each month in the Shankill Old Folks As­so­ci­a­tion Day Cen­tre.

The Craft Morn­ing takes place each Wed­nes­day from 10.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in St. Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre. New mem­bers wel­come. Con­tact Ms. Betty Mur­ray (Pres­i­dent) at 2820069.


Shankill Li­brary is open 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tues­days and Thurs­days and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wed­nes­day and Fri­days and on cer­tain Satur­days and Mon­days. The Li­brary will be closed this Satur­day and next Mon­day due to the June Bank Hol­i­day but will be open on Satur­day June 7th. Tonight (Wed­nes­day) monthly meet­ings of the Shankill Clas­si­cal Mu­si­cal Club Wed­nes­day re­sume at 7.45pm in the Shankill Old Folks As­so­ci­a­tion Day Cen­tre, Lower Road, Shankill.

A very hec­tic evening has been planned with the AGM tak­ing place at which the re­ports of the out­go­ing com­mit­tee will be placed be­fore the mem­bers for dis­cus­sion and adop­tion af­ter which the com­mit­tee for the com­ing year will be elected.

Af­ter a break for re­fresh­ments, mem­bers will be en­ter­tained by a five item pro­gramme in­clud­ing or­ches­tra dances by MacCunn, Dvo­rak and Grieg, opera arias by Massenet, folk song ar­range­ments by Percy Grainger, a pi­ano trio (‘Not­turno ‘) by Schu­bert and Syphony No 7 in E (iii.Scherzo) by Bruck­ner. This Sem­i­nar will take place in St. Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre on Tues­day evenings from Septem­ber 16th for 7 weeks, 8pm to 10pm each night. All are wel­come – those in­ter­ested in tak­ing part are asked to leave their names into the Parish Of­fice lo­cated in St. Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre.


On Satur­day morn­ing the ‘ First Satur­day ‘ Book Sale in aid of the Shankill Old Folks As­so­ci­a­tion and Meals on Wheels takes place from 10am to 1pm in the Shankill Old Folks As­so­ci­a­tion Day Cen­tre, Lower Road, Shankill. All wel­come – al­ways an ex­cel­lent of fact and fic­tion books to choose from at bar­gain prices. Do­na­tions of books al­ways wel­come and ap­pre­ci­ated.
