County Wicklow Network for Older People is hosting an information morning, on Thursday 11 September from 10.30 am until 1 pm in the Brockagh Centre, to provide older people across County Wicklow with access to information on rights, entitlements and services, which are available for older people in County Wicklow.
Speakers on the day will be from Age Action and County Wicklow Citizens Information Service. A light lunch will be provided and transport can be arranged if required.

CAR BOOT SALE
The next car boot sale at the Brockagh Centre will take place on Sunday 7th September from 11am (stall holders 10am) Cost ¤10 per car or small van. For further details contact 0404 45600.
Don’t forget there are still tickets left for the Glendalough and District Development Association 300 to 1 Car Draw in aid of the Brockagh Centre. 1st Prize - Hyundai Model i10, 2nd Prize ¤1,000, 3rd Prize Weekend Away for 2 People in Ireland and 4 prizes of ¤100. Tickets cost ¤100. The Draw will take place on Sunday September 28th 2008. Tickets are available from any member of the GDDA or from the Brockagh Centre.
A new daytime Absolute Beginners class will take place on Tuesday 9 September (10 to 12) and an evening Absolute Beginners class will start on Wednesday 10 September (7 to 9pm).
This is a six week course ideal for people who don’t know how to turn on a computer or for those who are rusty or haven’t quite ‘gotten it’ yet. The classes are small (6 to 7 people) so there is lots of individual attention.
We are also taking names for a November class in an Introduction to Photo Editing class which is particularly suitable for people who have a digital camera and take photos but don’t know what to do next.
Topics covered include downloading from your camera, archiving and storing photos, improving your pictures with simple fixes, emailing photos and uploading photos to the web to share with your family and friends. Contact 0404 45600 to book your place or to put your name down for other courses.
Happy Carer and Toddler Group is back on Wednesday 3rd September in the Brockagh Centre. This drop-in event for under 7s and their carers takes place on Wednesday mornings from 10.30 am till 12 noon and allows adults and children come together to have fun and to support one another. The AGM of Laragh Badminton Club takes place on Thursday 11 September at 8.30 p.m. in the Brockagh Resource Centre. We hope to see a good turn out of players and parents of junior members interested in promoting badminton. We would like to thank Avon Motors for sponsoring our very successful and keenly contested end-of-year junior competition.
Well done to all the participants. Play resumes as usual on Mondays and Thursdays from Monday 15th September with junior members starting at 8 pm and seniors at 9pm. Boys and girls from 5th Class and upwards in primary school are welcome to join.

Yoga Level 1 (Tuesdays, 7 to 8 pm) - Gentle Yoga suitable for all ages and abilities - ideal for complete beginners. Take time-out to tune into yourself - improve mobility/flexibility, posture and muscle tone. The class includes breath work, gentle postures and guided relaxation.
Yoga Level 2 (Tuesdays, 8.15 to 9.45 pm) - Stronger Yoga - a more challenging class for those wanting to expand their yoga practice.
Focusing on building flexibility and inner strength through strong breath and posture work, it draws on both Hatha and Ashtanga Yoga traditions. The class includes breath work and yoga postures and finishes with guided relaxation.

Judging has now taken place in the Tidy Towns Competition. Results should be published shortly.
As we are coming to the end of the summer we will be holding what is likely to be our penultimate ‘clean-up’ of the year on Saturday September 6. We will meet outside Lynhams at 11am and all are very welcome.

Wicklow Mountains National Park - Explore the woods of Glendalough on Saturday September 6th - looking at the plants and animals and the history of the woods (this walk is not suitable for children).

Daniella Byrne and her family and friends are organizing a Benefit Night, in memory of Daphne Jackson, to raise much needed funds to support the work of the Blackrock Hospice.
