KNOW YOUR RIGHTS

County Wick­low Net­work for Older Peo­ple is host­ing an in­for­ma­tion morn­ing, on Thurs­day 11 Septem­ber from 10.30 am un­til 1 pm in the Brock­agh Cen­tre, to pro­vide older peo­ple across County Wick­low with ac­cess to in­for­ma­tion on rights, en­ti­tle­ments and ser­vices, which are avail­able for older peo­ple in County Wick­low.

Speak­ers on the day will be from Age Action and County Wick­low Cit­i­zens In­for­ma­tion Ser­vice. A light lunch will be pro­vided and trans­port can be ar­ranged if re­quired.

CAR BOOT SALE

The next car boot sale at the Brock­agh Cen­tre will take place on Sun­day 7th Septem­ber from 11am (stall hold­ers 10am) Cost ¤10 per car or small van. For fur­ther de­tails con­tact 0404 45600.

CAR DRAW

Don’t for­get there are still tick­ets left for the Glendalough and District De­vel­op­ment As­so­ci­a­tion 300 to 1 Car Draw in aid of the Brock­agh Cen­tre. 1st Prize - Hyundai Model i10, 2nd Prize ¤1,000, 3rd Prize Week­end Away for 2 Peo­ple in Ire­land and 4 prizes of ¤100. Tick­ets cost ¤100. The Draw will take place on Sun­day Septem­ber 28th 2008. Tick­ets are avail­able from any mem­ber of the GDDA or from the Brock­agh Cen­tre.

LARAGH IT

A new day­time Ab­so­lute Be­gin­ners class will take place on Tues­day 9 Septem­ber (10 to 12) and an evening Ab­so­lute Be­gin­ners class will start on Wed­nes­day 10 Septem­ber (7 to 9pm).

This is a six week course ideal for peo­ple who don’t know how to turn on a com­puter or for those who are rusty or haven’t quite ‘got­ten it’ yet. The classes are small (6 to 7 peo­ple) so there is lots of in­di­vid­ual at­ten­tion.

We are also tak­ing names for a Novem­ber class in an In­tro­duc­tion to Photo Edit­ing class which is par­tic­u­larly suit­able for peo­ple who have a dig­i­tal cam­era and take pho­tos but don’t know what to do next.

Top­ics cov­ered in­clude down­load­ing from your cam­era, ar­chiv­ing and stor­ing pho­tos, im­prov­ing your pic­tures with sim­ple fixes, email­ing pho­tos and up­load­ing pho­tos to the web to share with your fam­ily and friends. HAPPY DAYS

Happy Carer and Tod­dler Group is back on Wed­nes­day 3rd Septem­ber in the Brock­agh Cen­tre. This drop-in event for un­der 7s and their car­ers takes place on Wed­nes­day morn­ings from 10.30 am till 12 noon and al­lows adults and chil­dren come to­gether to have fun and to sup­port one an­other. Tues­day night is dance night at the Brock­agh Cen­tre from 10 pm till late with the Wick­low Man.

BAD­MINTON CLUB

The AGM of Laragh Bad­minton Club takes place on Thurs­day 11 Septem­ber at 8.30 p.m. in the Brock­agh Re­source Cen­tre. We hope to see a good turn out of play­ers and par­ents of ju­nior mem­bers in­ter­ested in pro­mot­ing bad­minton. We would like to thank Avon Motors for spon­sor­ing our very suc­cess­ful and keenly con­tested end-of-year ju­nior com­pe­ti­tion.

Well done to all the par­tic­i­pants. Play re­sumes as usual on Mon­days and Thurs­days from Mon­day 15th Septem­ber with ju­nior mem­bers start­ing at 8 pm and se­niors at 9pm. Boys and girls from 5th Class and up­wards in pri­mary school are wel­come to join.

ROAD CYCLING

YOGA

Yoga Level 1 (Tues­days, 7 to 8 pm) - Gen­tle Yoga suit­able for all ages and abil­i­ties - ideal for com­plete be­gin­ners. Take time-out to tune into your­self - im­prove mo­bil­ity/flex­i­bil­ity, pos­ture and mus­cle tone. The class in­cludes breath work, gen­tle pos­tures and guided re­lax­ation.

Yoga Level 2 (Tues­days, 8.15 to 9.45 pm) - Stronger Yoga - a more chal­leng­ing class for those want­ing to ex­pand their yoga prac­tice.

Fo­cus­ing on build­ing flex­i­bil­ity and in­ner strength through strong breath and pos­ture work, it draws on both Hatha and Ash­tanga Yoga tra­di­tions. The class in­cludes breath work and yoga pos­tures and fin­ishes with guided re­lax­ation.

There will be an ‘open night’ for both classes on Tues­day 9th Septem­ber where you can try ei­ther for a fee of ¤5. A six week course be­gins on 16th Septem­ber. For more in­for­ma­tion con­tact Rachel on 087-3161446.

TIDY TOWNS

Judg­ing has now taken place in the Tidy Towns Com­pe­ti­tion. Re­sults should be pub­lished shortly.

As we are com­ing to the end of the sum­mer we will be hold­ing what is likely to be our penul­ti­mate ‘clean-up’ of the year on Satur­day Septem­ber 6. We will meet out­side Lyn­hams at 11am and all are very wel­come.

TAI CHI

Tai Chi/Chi Kung & Med­i­ta­tion Would you like to feel more re­laxed, more ef­fec­tive in your daily life, more in tune with your sur­round­ings? Would you like to have more ful­fill­ing re­la­tion­ships with fam­ily, friends and work col­leagues?

WOOD­LAND WALK

Wick­low Moun­tains Na­tional Park - Ex­plore the woods of Glendalough on Satur­day Septem­ber 6th - looking at the plants and an­i­mals and the his­tory of the woods (this walk is not suit­able for chil­dren).

This event is free of charge but book­ing is es­sen­tial. Par­tic­i­pants should wear suit­able footwear for ven­tur­ing off track. For fur­ther in­for­ma­tion please phone 0404-45425.

DI­ARY DATE

Daniella Byrne and her fam­ily and friends are or­ga­niz­ing a Ben­e­fit Night, in mem­ory of Daphne Jack­son, to raise much needed funds to sup­port the work of the Black­rock Hospice. The event will take place on Satur­day Novem­ber 1, in the Woodenbridge Ho­tel. More de­tails will be avail­able nearer the time.

A 45 Card Game ev­ery Tues­day night start­ing at 8.45 p.m. in Moneystown Com­mu­nity Cen­tre. Teas served ˆ all are wel­come.
