AN TÓCHAR GAA
After a dull and wet morning last Sunday the sun appeared at Pairc an Tóchar just as the clock struck two.
What perfect timing for the commencement of Club Jersey Day. The temperature soared to 25 degrees as the parade began of all the teams from under 8s right up to seniors in both boys and girls along with the young hurlers.
These were led by the cheer leaders decked out in their navy and blue. After the National Anthem the group split into teams one at each station alternating every fifteen minutes.
Events included mini matches, fun skills, obstacle course, kick fóda, penalty shoot, hurling, hop scotch and target shot. There was a managers Penalty Shoot with Shay Cullen winning the prize here.
This was followed by a presentation of medals to all participants. The under 16 captain, Jimmy Magee, received the League Cup which they won earlier in the season. Lots of refreshments were served all day and two large bouncing castles were in full swing all afternoon.
A big thanks to all who worked so hard to make this day so successful. Well done in particular to the juvenile committee for organising this very special event.
Well done to the lads who won their junior B championship match last Thursday against Hollywood with a score of 0-13 to 0-8. Scorers on the evening included Fergal Mulligan 0-3, Shay Cullen 0-5, Edward Kavanagh 0-2, Noel Power, Joe Coleman and Noel Wolohan 0-1 each. Nick Nolan was solid in defence for this match.
All roads lead to Aughrim next Sunday 7th September for the county final of the ladies championship. This takes place at 2:00pm and our ladies face Arklow in this final. The village looks bright and colourful decked out in navy and blue. Please remember to bring your flags with you to Aughrim and cheer loudly for the An Tóchar ladies at 2pm on Sunday.
Congrats to Siobhán Brady and Liam Kenna who both matched three numbers in the club lotto last week. This weeks jackpot is up at ¤10,800 so be sure to buy a club lotto ticket.
