McDonald hits hat-trick as Town win derby
Arklow Town 5, Arklow United 1: Teddy Sheringham and Dion Dublin may have retired at the end of last season but Arklow’s Noel McDonald, despite being a few years older, didn’t and now everyone can see why as the veteran ensured he would be keeping the match ball with a fantastic treble.
DIVISION 2 Shane Doyle also showed some class by contributing two goals to the Town’s cause, while Arklow United had Gary Byrne to thank for their strike.
Avonmore FC 3, Ballywaltrim FC 2: Ballywaltrim FC faced the long trip to Avonmore last Sunday and they returned home with nothing to show for their efforts, despite a good performance.
They found themselves one nil down at the half time break but showed good spirit to net twice in the second half. Unfortunately however it proved to be insignificant as Avonmore notched up three goals, courtesy of Oliver Byrne, Charlie Byrne and Leo Manley.
Celtic Stars 4, Enniskerry YC 2: Just promoted up from Division 3 and off to a winning start, things are looking good at Drummin.
They didn’t get off to the best start however as they found themselves 2-1 down at half time after Cian O’Carroll found the net for Enniskerry, as did Alex Bursey with a sensation goal from his own half.
The Stars weren’t to be denied however and they earned the three points thanks to a Robert Ryan double and a goal apiece for PJ Byrne and Gary Murphy.
