McDon­ald hits hat-trick as Town win derby

Ark­low Town 5, Ark­low United 1: Teddy Sheringham and Dion Dublin may have re­tired at the end of last sea­son but Ark­low’s Noel McDon­ald, de­spite be­ing a few years older, didn’t and now every­one can see why as the vet­eran en­sured he would be keep­ing the match ball with a fan­tas­tic tre­ble.

DIVI­SION 2 Shane Doyle also showed some class by con­tribut­ing two goals to the Town’s cause, while Ark­low United had Gary Byrne to thank for their strike.

Avon­more FC 3, Bal­ly­waltrim FC 2: Bal­ly­waltrim FC faced the long trip to Avon­more last Sun­day and they re­turned home with noth­ing to show for their ef­forts, de­spite a good per­for­mance.

They found them­selves one nil down at the half time break but showed good spirit to net twice in the sec­ond half. Un­for­tu­nately how­ever it proved to be in­signif­i­cant as Avon­more notched up three goals, cour­tesy of Oliver Byrne, Char­lie Byrne and Leo Man­ley.

Celtic Stars 4, En­niskerry YC 2: Just pro­moted up from Divi­sion 3 and off to a winning start, things are looking good at Drum­min.

They didn’t get off to the best start how­ever as they found them­selves 2-1 down at half time af­ter Cian O’Car­roll found the net for En­niskerry, as did Alex Bursey with a sen­sa­tion goal from his own half.

The Stars weren’t to be de­nied how­ever and they earned the three points thanks to a Robert Ryan dou­ble and a goal apiece for PJ Byrne and Gary Mur­phy.
