Under-15 footballers perform well
THE HAPPIEST man around in Wicklow G.A.A. circles this week in the manager of the Football Development Squads Jerome Kelly.
On Saturday he took his U-15 squad up to Co. Louth to take part in a four county tournament and while they brought back no silverware he claims that by beating Armagh in the semifinal they did make a bit of history. They were the first such Wicklow team to beat a team from Ulster.
Then on Sunday he went to Croke Park to cheer of his native Tyrone in their bid for a place in the All-Ireland final. Jerome was very pleased with how his understrength side performed when beating Armagh by 2-6 to 1-4 in the semi-final.
Mark Keogh of Kilbride got both goals while Tom Kavanagh, Richey Harte, Phillip Murphy, Cormac Byrne, Justin O’Brien and Jason Cush shared the points.
They were beaten by a very strong Meath team - 2-10 to 0-6 - in the final.
