The woman had been taking part in a sponsored walk for Bray Cancer Support when she fell and sustained a small fracture to a hand bone.

Over 100 walkers had completed the fundrais- ing event to the summit of the mountain on the day.

‘We are very thankful to both the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and the Glen of Imaal team who were also available on the day,’ said Brendan O’Leary of Bray Cancer Support Centre.

He explained that the woman had had the bad luck to lose her footing on a relatively easy stretch of the walk.
