Driver fined for ‘sensible’ act
A BRAY MAN who drove with no insurance was told that his actions were ‘slightly the more correct thing to do’ under the circumstances he was in.
The court was told that on February 16 at the N11 in the Glen of the Downs, Graham Smith of 104 Seacrest was driving without insurance.
The court heard that Smith had decided to drive the car because the owner of the car who is a friend of his was very drunk and attempting to drive the car.
Smith thought that since he had recently passed his driving test, his insurance would cover him on his friend’s car.
Judge Murrough Connellan said that while he couldn’t condone anybody driving without insurance in this case it was the more sensible thing to do.
He fined Smith ¤350.
