Ballymore will be ‘under suspicion’ in future
‘I HATE to tell you I told you so’ was Councillor John McManus’s response to what Cathaoirleach Ciarán O’Brien called ‘a long saga that is the Florentine Centre’.
At the end of July, Ballymore Developments decided not to go ahead with the full plans for the Florentine Centre.
‘I hope in the future that there won’t be any indication of doing work with Ballymore,’ said Cllr McManus. ‘The only reason we have any resolution to this is because the Town Council members pushed ahead to ensure that something be done.’
Cllr McManus went on to say that no real progress was made and with the plans that are going ahead Ballymore are simply undoing what they did five years ago. Councillor Pat Vance agreed that if any future discussions were to be held with Ballymore in regards to the future planning of the site, the members should remain very suspicious of them.
‘I am appalled by it all and that after so many years we are left with so little,’ he said.
