The annual cake sale in aid of the Seniors CitizensChristmas Party will take place on Sunday 14th September at 10.30 a.m. (in front of old hardware shop).

Both games involving our teams were postponed due to the continuous wet weather. Let’s hope for better conditions for next weekend as all our three teams are down for action.

The following are the fixtures for week/ending Sat.13th/Sun.14th Sept.; 1st team Home to Richmond Rovers KO Sun 2.30 p.m. 2nd team Home to St Fergals KO Sun 11.30 a.m. Youth team away to Greystones KO Sat. 12.30 p.m. (Fixtures are subject to change).

After the washout on Friday & Saturday most of our matches down for decision bit the dust. Only two games survived the weather and in these games we recorded 1 win and 1 defeat.

The Under 9’s hit the ground running with a thumping 9-1 win at home to Greystones. Michael Coghlan helped himself to a hat- trick, 2 goals each were scored by Sean Gregory & Sean McHugh and there were singles for both Aaron Eager and Ryan Whelan in a good all round team display.

Decimated by injuries and players away the 16’s travelled away to play Glencormac United with the maximum 11 players. Things didn’t get any better when minutes into the game Darren Bourke received an injury which put him out of the game. The ten men were doing well until the home team scored twice in a 5 minute spell midway through the half to take control of the game.

A further 4 goals in the second half for the home side ensured defeat. A late Danny Curran goal did give the Newtown lads something to shout about but all in all the team was way below par in this particular game.

Upcoming fixtures for the coming week are as follows; Tues. 9th Sept. Under 11’s Away to Ardmore Rovers KO at 6.30 p.m.; Thur.11th Sept. Under 12’s Home to Ardmore Rovers KO at 6.45 pm. Under 16’s Away to Greystones KO at 6.30 p.m. Under 8A’s Home to Greystones ‘B’ KO Sun. 14th at 11.30 a.m. Under 8B’s Home to Rathnew ‘B’ KO Sun. 14th at 10.30 a.m. Under 9’s Home to Wicklow Town ‘A’ KO Sat 13th at 2.45 p.m. (prov.).
