Redbank fightback falls just short

Bray People - - Sport -

Redbank 4, St. Kevin’s 5: When most teams find themselves 5-0 down, they would collapse. Not Redbank United however.

DIVISION 2 After falling five goals behind last Sunday the Knockatemple men went out and staged a spectacular but ultimately unsuccessful comeback, losing by a single goal.

Credit where credit is due though with Andy Carstairs leading the fightback, following up from last week’s goal with a hat-trick and Robert Cullen netting the other one. Avonmore 2, Roundwood 3: This was as the old cliché goes ‘a game of two halves’.

At half- time Aughrim found themselves three nil down and staring in the barrel of defeat after Robbie Eyre, Damo Kennedy and John Sayer all registered goals for the men from the highest village in Ireland.

Avonmore showed great spirit however and pulled two goals back thanks to Bernie Byrne and Eugene Dunne but that was all they could manage, so the three points went to Roundwood.
