FROM FRONT ‘WALKING BACK to the car park I met approximately 20 people in groups out for a walk, including quite a few small children, as it was a fine Saturday morning,’ he added, expressing concern that the sight that awaited them may have been unsuitable for families.

He said that at the car park there was a man standing beside a car. ‘I overheard a lady ask him if he was a security man, as he was wearing a security-marked shirt. He replied that he was. She asked him what was going on up in the wood. He replied that it was a baptism.’

The woman reportedly told him that there were naked men in the river and that she had phoned Gardaí. ‘On hearing this he immediately went on his mobile phone. ‘Less than five minutes later, as I walked to the main road, the car driven by the security man and containing three other men, drove past me at high speed out of Knocksink Wood.’ Gardaí said that they are not aware of any report being made on the incident over the weekend. ‘This type of thing is certainly news to me,’ said a senior Garda.
