Mobile recycling service continues

Bray People - - Council Report -

ASSURANCES WERE given at a meeting of Bray Town Council last Tuesday night that the mobile recycling service at St. Peter’s will continue through the month of September, funded by Bray Town Council.

The Town Clerk, Ms. Christine Flood, said that alternative arrangements are in the ’advanced stages’ of being made.

The service, which takes place two Saturdays a month was provided until recently by Wicklow County Council.

’I commend Bray Town Council for taking over the service. The Town Clerk didn’t want to see people left in the lurch.’

’The lease we can do is continue the existing service,’ said Clr. Pat Vance, before the Cathaoirleach said that there had been some misinformation about a possible discontinuation of the service.

’Owen Gallagher organised a meeting about this on Thursday night and never informed me,’ said local Cllr. Anne Egan. ’But I was told that it is not to be a political meeting. It’s funny how some of us were informed and others weren’t.’

Cllr. Michael Lawlor speculated that ’this won’t be the only bit of misinformation put out between now and June.’

’We have spent 15 minutes discussing something that isn’t fact,’ added the Cathaoirleach. ’It might be appropriate for people to check the facts with council members in future.’
