Horse Show victim of horrific weather
ORGANISERS AND show jumping competitors were left bitterly disappointed last weekend as the Newcastle Horse Show was cancelled.
The decision was made last Wednesday when organisers began to stake the field in order to rope the arena’s and found that the ground was too waterlogged for the show jumping spectacle to take place.
The adverse weather conditions that have hit Wicklow have been blamed for the cancellation with the field at Ballymoney Park Stud in Kilbride already water-logged and fear of more heavy downpours over the weekend.
Organisers of the event hope to hold a Golf Classic as soon as possible as another way to raise funds for the charity.
The Newcastle Show has been running for 52 years and this year’s event was to be televised on Sky Sports.
