Roundwood’s flying start continues
SOCCER WICKLOW LEAGUE DIVISION TWO
Roundwood FC 3, Celtic Stars 0: Roundwood are sitting pretty at the top of Division 2 after this victory over Celtic Stars.
Both sides had come up from Division 3 last season and Roundwood have made an extremely good start and secured the points in this match thanks to a double from Luke Ferguson and a Wesley Darcy strike.
St. Kevin’s 1, St. Anthony’s B 0: A first half strike from Brian Windsor was enough to secure all three points for St. Kevin’s at Conway’s Field last Sunday.
The win brings the home side up to 3rd in the league while the Kilcoole outfit occupy last place after playing only one game.
Arklow United B 1, Fassagh Row YC 0: Fassagh Row YC were forced to travel down to Arklow on their debut in the league and unfortunately it wasn’t a happy one for them, losing to a penalty in the 80th minute in a match described as being extremely tight. Gerard Earls will be the man taking the plaudits, keeping his cool to secure the three points from the spot.
Enniskerry YC B 0, Avonmore FC 0: With just one win between these two sides in the four games they had played before this, a draw was always a possibility and that’s exactly what happened.
Neither side could break the deadlock at Berryfield Lane last Sunday as the match finished goalless.
St. Patrick’s 5, Redbank United 1: Redbank United were once again exposed at the back as St. Patrick’s cruised to three points and smashed in five goals. The Moran brothers were certainly on form but it is Jason Moran who has the bragging rights after he bagged four goals, with his brother Ian only managing the other one.
Andrew Carstairs continued his fantastic early scoring form, grabbing Redbank’s consolation.
