Over the past num­ber of years do­ing the club notes, I have al­ways availed of ev­ery op­por­tu­nity to ex­tol the virtues of the field. A good sum­mers evening, a cou­ple of matches and ju­ve­nile train­ing is all that it takes to set me off. The op­por­tu­nity to do so over the last two sea­sons has been lim­ited given the lack of that all-im­por­tant weather fac­tor. Then just as all hope faded, last Satur­day dawned and the sun shone on the nine acres from first ar­rival to last hot dog of the Un­der-13 Le­in­ster Hurl­ing Blitz. It was an out­stand­ing day from many as­pects, but for me, it once again re­minded me of all that is great about our club. I still main­tain that there isn’t a finer sod in Wick­low, and while she has a few humps and hol­lows, there isn’t a man-made
