23 char­i­ties ben­e­fit from CABS’ ¤27,000 fundraiser

CABS held thair an­nual pre­sen­ta­tion night in the Royal Ho­tel re­cently, hav­ing raised a spec­tac­u­lar ¤27,000 on this year’s walk from Wick­low to Bray last May.

The com­mit­tee mem­bers were there on the night, in­clud­ing chair­man Des O’Toole as well as walk­ers, friends and fam­ily mem­bers.

A to­tal of 23 char­i­ties re­ceived gen­er­ous cheques from the com­mit­tee, in­clud­ing Bray and Grey­stones Can­cer Sup­port Groups, The Five Loaves, Rain­bows Sui­cide Sup­port and Kil­coole OAP.

At Christ­mas time the bus driv­ers and their as­so­ci­ates plan to or­gan­ise Santa Claus him­self to take time from his busy sched­ule to visit St. Cather­ine’s school in New­cas­tle Hospi­tal as well as the women’s refuge. A do­na­tion will also be made to the Five Loaves for their an­nual Christ­mas din­ner.

‘I would also like to take this op­por­tu­nity to thank ev­ery per­son that helped in any way to make this year’s walk such a suc­cess,’ said Des. ‘If there is any­one w ho would like to spare a Satur­day this year to help raise money for their own com­mu­nity email cab­schar­ity@gmail.com for fur­ther de­tails.’
