Family arranges golf tournament in loving memory of Jack Hayes
THE LATE Jack Hayes from Scott Park was remembered last Friday with a golf tournament held in Bray Golf Club, organised by his family.
Thirty teams of four each took part in the second annual Jack Hayes Memorial Trophy to raise money for children’s oncology in Crumlin.
They raised ¤7,500, an increase on last year when they presented a cheque for ¤5,000 to the hospital.
Jack’s wife Aveline and their 11 children chose the charity to support as they lost him to leukemia and also because he had 18 grandchildren.
Aveline presented the prizes after a great day of golf, with their neighbour George Lee and his team coming in first on the day. There were also seven teams from the Vevay Inn there on the day, Jack having been a member of the Vevay Inn Golf Society.
There was then a delicious meal and music from Buddy Boland, who kept everyone dancing until late. The Hayes family expressed their sincere thanks to everyone who took part and anyone who donated a spot prize for the event.
The winning team are presented with the cup, Dan Walsh, George Lee, Aveline Hayes, Terry Smith, Paul Hayes and Brian Hayes.
