Di­a­betes Fed­er­a­tion gets cheque for ¤1,000

THE Wick­low branch of the Di­a­betes Fed­er­a­tion of Ire­land re­ceived a cheque for ¤1,000, the largest lo­cal con­tri­bu­tion made so far this year fol­low­ing a suc­cess­ful so­cial night hosted by Ark­low-based John Joe’s So­cial Club.

The club which was formed six months ago aims to host sim­i­lar events for var­i­ous char­i­ties on an on­go­ing ba­sis due to the vast sup­port re­ceived so far.

A cheque was pre­sented to the rep­re­sen­ta­tives of fed­er­a­tion fol­low­ing the event which was or­gan­ised to cre­ate aware­ness on the is­sue lo­cally.

PRO for John Joe’s So­cial Club Paddy Finn said that mem­bers were de­lighted with the turn out.

‘It was a great night and we were thrilled to present fund­ing to the lo­cal Di­a­betes Fed­er­a­tion branch. Hope­fully we will get the same sup­port for fu­ture char­ity events. Thanks to every­one who sup­ported the night and to those who spon­sored spot prizes.’
