Diabetes Federation gets cheque for ¤1,000
CONTRIBUTION GROUP AIMS TO HOLD REGULAR FUNDRAISERS
THE Wicklow branch of the Diabetes Federation of Ireland received a cheque for ¤1,000, the largest local contribution made so far this year following a successful social night hosted by Arklow-based John Joe’s Social Club.
The club which was formed six months ago aims to host similar events for various charities on an ongoing basis due to the vast support received so far.
A cheque was presented to the representatives of federation following the event which was organised to create awareness on the issue locally.
PRO for John Joe’s Social Club Paddy Finn said that members were delighted with the turn out.
‘It was a great night and we were thrilled to present funding to the local Diabetes Federation branch. Hopefully we will get the same support for future charity events. Thanks to everyone who supported the night and to those who sponsored spot prizes.’
Club members will continue their busy schedule with a well-earned trip to Prague on September 19 for four days. New members are always welcome. Contact any committee member for details. Chairman John White, Secretary Paddy Murphy, Treasurer Joe Nolan and PRO Paddy Finn.
