REQUESTS were made for medical certificates to be produced at Arklow District Court when two co-defendants failed to appear. Patrick Lynch from 11 Cushlawn Walk, Tallaght and Michael McCarthy from the Halting Site at South Beach, Arklow were charged with burglary (intent) at Menton’s Gas Shop, Lower Main Street, Arklow on January 30 of this year.

When their names were called, the court was informed that McCarthy had been beaten up so badly he could not attend while Lynch told his solicitor that he had to bring his child to hospital. Judge Murrough Connellan said there was no reason why a medical certificate could not be obtained for each of the men and adjourned the case to October 15 for mention.
