AC­TIV­I­TIES

The pro­gramme of ex­tra-cur­ric­u­lar ac­tiv­i­ties is up and run­ning in the school. All stu­dents are en­cour­aged to get in­volved in at least one ac­tiv­ity, ei­ther sport­ing or non-sport­ing. Ac­tiv­i­ties in­clude camogie, soc­cer, Gaelic foot­ball for boys and girls, de­bat­ing, fish­ing and a whole lot more!!

VIS­I­TORS FROM SWE­DEN

COLÁISTE CHRAOBH AB­HANN were de­lighted to wel­come a group of Swedish vis­i­tors last Tues­day, Septem­ber 16. The group were given pre­sen­ta­tions on var­i­ous as­pects of the school and were also brought on a tour of the school, stop­ping off at ar­eas of in­ter­est to their visit and/or sub­ject ar­eas, in­clud­ing com­put­ers, wood­work, met­al­work, art and home eco­nomics.

MU­SIC OUT­REACH PRO­GRAMME

The Mu­sic Out­reach Pro­gramme started to­day, Wed­nes­day, Septem­ber 24 in the school. Fur­ther en­rol­ments can still be made. Con­tact Miss Mitchell for fur­ther de­tails.

MU­SIC DEPART­MENT

The Mu­sic Depart­ment had its first per­for­mance for this year last Tues­day, Septem­ber 16. The per­for­mance was for a Swedish del­e­ga­tion from the Ed­u­ca­tion Depart­ment in the mu­nic­i­pal­ity of Helsin­borg. The choir sang three pieces. There were so­los from Liz Daly, Amy Meagher, Joe Bradley and Amy Diviney. The fol­low­ing dancers, Kerri Mer­ri­man, Clare O Toole, Kate Leone, Kyla Hef­fer­nan and Sor­cha Gar­vey per­formed both hard and soft shoe dances and one of the school bands played ‘Sweet Home Alabama’. Credit to Joe Bradley, Liz Daly and Ben Kelly for their as­sis­tance dur­ing re­hearsals.

Many thanks and con­grat­u­la­tions to all par­ents and stu­dents who were in­volved in our re­cent bag pack in Tesco, Grey­stones. A to­tal of •3,700 was raised, which will be used for sports equip­ment.

HEAD BOY AND GIRL

Best wishes to our Head Boy and Girl, An­drew Meade and Laura Greene. We wish them well in their role for the year.

VISIT TO SCHOOL

Two rep­re­sen­ta­tives from the Wick­low Army Re­serves came to the school on Mon­day, Septem­ber 22, to speak to fifth and sixth year stu­dents about join­ing the re­serves and on ca­reers in the De­fence Forces.
