The seniors got their league campaign off to a great start with a 50 point win over Templeogue College last Wednesday. The Pres pack dominated with Terence O’Neill in impressive form. The scores came freely throughout in an excellent team performance. Tougher test will follow but this performance suggests a strong league run is possible.

The JCT made the short journey to St Gerard’s last Wednesday to play our annual local derby. St Gerard’s started very strongly and our defence had to be at its best to keep them from crossing the line early on. After 15 minutes captain Phillip Haughton settled the nerves with a wonderful penalty from the sideline to put us 3-0 up. This gave the team great confidence and full back Dean Redmond soon crossed the line for a great try after a brilliant run from Shane Hunt. Phillip Haughton then got over for our second try, which he converted himself. A brilliant solo effort from Cillean Guihen, again converted by Haughton left us 22-0. Right on half time St Gerard’s had a great chance to score, but a brilliant last ditch tackle from David Doyle
