PHILIP ROTHWELL must have been delighted to see the Harvest Festival meeting at Listowel get the go ahead last week as he saddled two winners in impressive fashion at the County Kerry track.
His 8 year old gelding ‘Jamies Choice’, a son of ‘Flemensfirth’ completed a remarkable four-timer when winning the handicap chase on Wednesday September 17.
Eoin McCarthy this horse led most of the way and rallied to justify favouritism at 2/1.
Rothwell completed his haul on Friday September 19 when Shane Jackson partnered ‘Beneficial Spirit’ to take the maiden hurdle at 8/1 in a close affair.
The son of ‘Beneficial’ who raced in the colours of Rothwell’s partner Niamh Deegan, just held on to win in a tight finish much to the credit of Jackson.
