Enniskerry’s Aine plays in Big Apple

Bray People - - Sport -

WHILE MOST OF us were tucked up in bed last Wednesday night, Enniskerry’s Aine O’Gorman was busy trying to help Ireland defeat the Olympic Champions United States in Giants Stadium, New York, a stadium with a special meaning for the Irish.

Unfortunately the Girls in Green lost the friendly on a 1-0 score-line, with the Americans netting the winner 18 minutes from time.

Ireland did come close to equalizing late on though through US born Michele O’Brien and O’Gorman, when she lifted the ball over the advancing US goalkeeper Briana Scurry only for defender Heather Mitts to scamper back and clear off the line.
