Avon­dale 2-11, Ark­low Rock Parnells 26: Ark­low Rock Parnells saw their un­beaten run in the Sal­ley Cup Se­nior hurl­ing com­pe­ti­tion come to an end when beaten by five points by Avon­dale on Satur­day last.

SAL­LEY CUP Yet the seasiders re­main at the top of the leader board in the com­pe­ti­tion and must still be on course to make the fi­nal.

Two sec­ond-half goal strikes by Avon­dale’s full- for­ward Brian Burke set ‘ The Dales’ on the road to victory over an Ark­low side that paid the penalty for not con­vert­ing the chances that came their way.

Both teams lined out short a num­ber of their first team play­ers and that would have taken from this game as a com­pet­i­tive con­test. De­spite play­ing well be­low re­cent form, Ark­low Rock Parnells went on to lead by a point at the break, 0-5 to 0-4, but af­ter the change over Brian Burke’s two goals for Avon­dale turned this game around.
