Hooded thugs attack barber shop workers
KNIFE ORDEAL YOUNG MAN IS ARRESTED
A YOUTH has been arrested following an armed robbery in broad daylight last Saturday afternoon at Bray Barber Shop.
Two youths, with one brandishing a knife left staff and a customer at the shop terrified, shocked and very shaken.
At around 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon the thugs who were wearing hoodies pulled up on their heads entered the barber shop that is situated on the busy Dublin Road.
One of the thugs stood at the door-way so as to block customers coming in or anybody who tried to leave.
The other who was holding a large knife threatened the only male customer in the shop and demanded money.
The man handed over the only change he had in his pocket that was ¤ 2.80.
The thug then turned to one of the two female hairdressers and pinned her against the wall with the knife at her neck and demanded that she open the till.
The terrified girl did as what was demanded of her and gave the hooded thug cash.
The two culprits then made a run for it and ran out of the shop in the direction of Dublin.
In an act of bravery one of the hairdressers ran out of the shop after the two and screamed for help from passers-by but nobody came to her assistance.
‘This is our third robbery in five years. Despite being in a very busy location we have been a target of armed robbery three times which is very unsettling. the girls were left terrified and very shaken after the incident on Saturday,’ said Linda Cunningham manager of the barber shop.
The girls were left very shaken after gardaí investigated the incident recovered a hoodie close to the scene and from CCTV footage outside the Coach Inn they were able to get a description of the thugs.
Yesterday morning a youth was arrested in relation to the incident but gardaí are still looking for anybody who may have been in the area at the time or who may have information to come forward.
They can contact gardaí confidentially at (01) 6665300.
