THE TWO MARYS Golf Classic, held early in the summer, has become one of the largest participating charity golfing events in Wicklow and organisers handed a cheque for ¤7,350 last week to Kathleen Kelleher of Greystones Cancer Support Centre.

A record entry of 55 teams topped off an outstanding day at the 6th annual golf charity event this year.

The format of the competition for this year was a fourball scramble team event and the day proved to be an outstanding success with a record 220 people taking part.

The winning team with a superb score of 51.3 were Kevin Lewis, Keith Lewis, Sean Brolly and Philip Smullen. The nearest-the-pin prize was won by Eddie Lonergan and the longest drive was won by Barry Davis.

The night time entertainment was provided by Mike Morrissey with a guest performance by leading Irish Tenor, Des Willoughby, which proved very popular as did the charity raffle, which followed the prize giving.

Organisers would like to thank all their Sponsors and especially Greystones Golf Club for their continued support for this event. ‘The support from our Sponsors enables the event to take place and raise much needed funds for this very worth while local charity,’ said Jason Bradshaw.

The cheque for ¤7, 350 is handed over to Kathleen Kelleher of the Greystones Cancer Support Centre.
