Bowling at a new level
CAMPAIGN BRAY CLUB PREPARES FOR IRISH PRESIDENCY
BRAY BOWLING Club, founded in 1965, is this year taking on the presidency of the Bowling League of Ireland - the governing body of the sport.
This will be only the second time Bray has had this honour since its foundation 43 years ago and the members wish to mark this special year by upgrading the club facilities.
To meet the expense of these improvements, the club has embarked on a fund raising programme and so far members have held two quiz nights and a cake sale and are planning a race night for November.
‘We are actively appealing for support and sponsorship from local business, civic and political figures,’ said a spokesman.
The club, which plays lawn bowls at Failte Park, Adelaide Road, has over 100 members - 65 men and 40 ladies.
The income received from all of the fund raising events will go towards meeting the costs of necessary improvements such as painting, lighting and plumbing as well as any expenses associated with the presidency of the BLI.
For more information or to make a donation contact the Clubhouse on (01) 2863899.
