RTE’s Marian to open exhibition

Bray People - - Special Report -

THE RTE radio presenter Marian Finucane will open an exhibition of oils called ‘Present Past’ by Hilary Orpen on Thursday October 16 at the Signal Arts Centre.

Hilary’s work is about footprints; the footprints of people, communities and cultures.

The work for this exhibition is inspired by two uninhabited islands off the North Mayo coast.

Apart from the savage beauty of the place, and the richness of animal and bird life, the islands lay claim to a surprising and colourful past.

Not so long ago life off the west coast involved piracy, idolatry and an almost total disregard for the forces of law or church.

Hilary worked as a television presenter and producer before becoming a full time artist. She studied at UCD, NCAD and at the Academia di Belli Arte in Bologna.

The exhibition will run from Tuesday October 14 to Sunday October 26.
