In a league of their own
LAST SATURDAY St. Gerard’s school hosted the 2nd leg of the www.hoofprints.com Interschools Showjumping league at Boswell Equestrian.
Not only was the sun shining high the sky making it an incredible day but the showjumping was also magnificent.
Some 42 teams gathered to compete of which ten teams on a total of 0 false went in to the jump off.
Newtown School from Waterford proved to be on top of their form.
This team was made up by William Hickey, Hannah O’Shea, Anna Hickey and Betrum Allen of which the last two jumped off.
Following closely behind in second place was St Leo’s College Carlow made up of Jade Lawlor, Eimear Curran, Louise Fenlon and Leanne Ryan.
The host team St. Gerard’s took up third position, this team made up of Hayley Mulcahy, Max O’Reilly High- land, Nathan Gorman and Alicia Devlin Byrne.
Carol-Ann Molloy, Sarah Watchorn, Stephanie Hutchson and Ashley Deedan from Kilkenny College taking forth.Picking up fifth position was Gorey Community School with Lauren Chushe, Emma Bolger, Aoife Redmond and Shawna Lazenby and in sixth position was a mixed effort team between Holy Child Killiney and St. Gerard’s made up of Katie Ni Cuilleanain, Clare Savage, Zoe Carroll and Sarah Brandon.
Also at the venue St. Gerard’s held a individual competition, ten fences made up this Speed Round, it pushed competitors to the limit.
Alise O’Neill proved successful taking the first prise providing a unbelievable speed round, Max O’Reilly Highland taking second. All in all the day, combined with the great weather, was a great success.
