Series of sales now completed
THIS YEAR’S series of car boot sales at St. David’s has come to a close, with organisers saying that it has been a wonderfully successful fundraising venture for the school, raising ¤9,680.
The next season will resume on March 15 and run every second week until the end of September.
All proceeds from the sales are used by the school to upgrade and improve the facilities for the students attending.
‘A huge thank you to all the sellers and buyers who have supported us week after week, year after year,’ said a spokesman. ‘ Without their support there could be no sales and we look forward to meeting them all again next year.’
Special thanks went to the organising group, Phil Kerrigan and Mary Finnegan, who have been running the sales together for the past 16 years.
‘They have been an amazing team and have worked tirelessly together every year, making sure all runs smoothly. It is a huge workload and yearly commitment to put up and take down signs, advertise flyers and be there to open the gates early in the morning.’
The pair is always there for the day taking admission fees, parking cars, and giving out flyers before cleaning and locking up again.
Phil and Mary both became fundraisers for St. David’s many years ago when their children went to the school and long after their youngest children left school, they still continue to run the sales.
A small group of helpers joined their number this year. ‘They would like to say a heartfelt thanks to all those new faces who gave up a few hours on Sundays throughout the year.’
