Coun­cil­lors cho­sen to con­test elec­tions

COUN­CIL­LORS Grainne McLough­lin, Ge­orge Jones and Derek Mitchell, as well as new­comer Si­mon Har­ris, were se­lected by Fine Gael to con­test next year’s Town Coun­cil elec­tions in Grey­stones at the Horse & Hound last Mon­day evening.

‘Ma­jor progress has been made in trans­form­ing Grey­stones,’ said cur­rent Mayor Cllr. Ge­orge Jones. ‘I look for­ward to con­tin­u­ing the very im­por­tant work for the town in the years ahead.’

Si­mon Har­ris, who is also ex­pected to run for Wick­low County Coun­cil is, at 21, one of the youngest candidates in the coun­try.

‘I look for­ward to work­ing with the three out­go­ing coun­cil­lors and hope I will help in­crease the party rep­re­sen­ta­tion on Grey­stones Town Coun­cil,’ said Mr. Har­ris.

Mr Des Lane was ap­pointed Di­rec­tor of Elec­tions by the Con­ven­tion, Cllr S. Bourke of Ark­low chaired the meet­ing and Deputies An­drew Doyle and Billy Tim­mins were also present.
