ARKLOW TOWN U-11 B team secured their first three points of the season with a 41 win over Greystones United B at Bridgewater Centre Park in their WDSL U-11 Division 1 clash on Sunday.

U-11 DIVISION 1 The visitors opened the scoring with their very first attack in the second minute, a strike from just inside the box ending up in the bottom corner of the Arklow net.

Town’s reaction was laboured with only Conor O’Brien at left back showing the spirit required. Peter Sherwood dragged the Arklow side back into the game with an equaliser in the sixteenth minute, slotting home under the advancing Greystones keeper.

William Horsman pulled off a fine save from the impressive Greystones number six four minutes later, with the away side pressing hard to restore their early advantage.

Arklow began the secondhalf strongly with raids down both flanks placing the away side on the back foot. Glen Kelly, operating on the left wing cut inside to put Town ahead with a drive from eight yards out.

Town, unrecognisable from the first-half, doubled their advantage when substitute Adam Forde was first to react to a loose ball, sliding it past the helpless Greystones keeper.

Another of Town’s substitutes, Darren Dempsey, had immediate impact on Town’s attacking play and though he missed a few chances to increase Town’s lead his industry ensured the home side continued to press for further goals.

The fourth, the icing on the cake, came in the closing moments with Adam Forde grabbing his second goal of the game, a delicious lob over the ‘Stones keeper into the empty net.

Arklow Town's Tomás Farrell driving forward from midfield.
