The Enniskerry History Society, which meets under the guidance of John Callan it’s president, continues with its Autumn programme of monthly lectures tomorrow night, Thursday October 9th, at 8.30pm in the A.O.H. Hall, Church Hill, Enniskerry.
James Scannell will be the guest speaker to present his lecture ‘The Sinking of the RMS Leinster – October 1918’ in which he will cover the events surrounding the sinking of this City of Dublin Steam Packet Company morning mail boat by a German submarine off the Kish Bank within sight of land. All are welcome to attend the lecture - admission €3.
The 90th anniversary will be marked the following day, Friday October 10th by special Remembrance Service at 12 Noon in St. Michael’s Church, Dun Laoghaire, to which all are welcome.
In November author and Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council Heritage Officer Tim Carey will be the guest speaker to present his lecture on ‘Mountjoy Gaol’ with the Autumn programme being closed by Brian White in December with a special illustrated presentation ‘Hidden Secrets of the Dargle Valley’.
All are welcome to attend these lectures which will take place in the A.O.H. Hall, Church Hill, Enniskerry at 8.30pm on the 2nd Thursday of the month.
