HIS­TORY LEC­TURES

The En­niskerry His­tory So­ci­ety, which meets un­der the guid­ance of John Cal­lan it’s pres­i­dent, con­tin­ues with its Au­tumn pro­gramme of monthly lec­tures to­mor­row night, Thurs­day Oc­to­ber 9th, at 8.30pm in the A.O.H. Hall, Church Hill, En­niskerry.

James Scan­nell will be the guest speaker to present his lec­ture ‘The Sink­ing of the RMS Le­in­ster – Oc­to­ber 1918’ in which he will cover the events sur­round­ing the sink­ing of this City of Dublin Steam Packet Com­pany morn­ing mail boat by a Ger­man sub­ma­rine off the Kish Bank within sight of land. All are wel­come to at­tend the lec­ture - ad­mis­sion €3.

The 90th an­niver­sary will be marked the fol­low­ing day, Fri­day Oc­to­ber 10th by spe­cial Re­mem­brance Ser­vice at 12 Noon in St. Michael’s Church, Dun Laoghaire, to which all are wel­come.

In Novem­ber au­thor and Dun Laoghaire Rath­down County Coun­cil Her­itage Of­fi­cer Tim Carey will be the guest speaker to present his lec­ture on ‘Moun­tjoy Gaol’ with the Au­tumn pro­gramme be­ing closed by Brian White in De­cem­ber with a spe­cial il­lus­trated pre­sen­ta­tion ‘Hid­den Se­crets of the Dar­gle Val­ley’.

All are wel­come to at­tend th­ese lec­tures which will take place in the A.O.H. Hall, Church Hill, En­niskerry at 8.30pm on the 2nd Thurs­day of the month.
