Rathnew see off Aughrim
DIVISION 1 Rathnew AFC 4, Aughrim Rangers A 1: Rathnew comprehensively beat Aughrim Rangers this week in what was their second win of the season against an Aughrim side who suffered their second defeat.
Niall Byrne scored for the visitors in the first half and the score was 1-1 at the break but in the second period the home side pulled away to secure the three points.
Kenneth Doyle, Nicky Mernagh, Roy Carthy and young Edward Doyle got the goals for Rathnew. Arklow United A 2, Wolfe Tone Celtic 1: Wolfe Tone’s 100% record is no more after they returned from Ark- low with nothing to show from their troubles. Arklow went into the break one up thanks to Niall O’Neill and after the Bray side had levelled it up they missed a penalty to take the lead before Stephen Kinsella netted the winner. Wicklow Rovers 3, St. Fergal’s AFC 2: They haven’t been firing on all cylinders yet but Wicklow Rovers have got that all important first win of the season and hopefully this will spur them on as the season progresses.
Cormac Doyle did his best to deny Rovers their first win with a brace but the young Wicklow side claimed the three points thanks to strikes from Conor Tobin, Karl Harrington and Jim Foley.
