Facile victory for Glenealy

SENIOR HURLING Glenealy 5-20, Bray Emmets 1-7: A huge bank of lights beamed down on Avondale grounds for this group Senior hurling championship game on Wednesday night but the thing that lit up the pitch the most was the illuminating hurling of Glenealy’s Jonathan O’Neill.

Over the years Bosco has played many great games for club and county and this performance ranks up there with the very best.

From start to finish he was the pow- erhouse of the Glenealy side, his accuracy from play and frees not having lost its razor sharp edge as his 1-14 contribution to their 25 point winning margin over Bray Emmets so eloquently testifies.

The county champions needed to win one of their last two group games to reach the championship semi-final and continue the defence of their title; this win means that there is little relevancy and nothing at stake in their last match against Kiltegan, whom they will now meet in the championship semi-final next week instead.
