Pres alert as fire erupts in toilets
HUNDREDS of students of Presentation College Bray were evacuated from the school last Friday when a fire broke out for the second time in the space of a year.
A member of staff said the blaze had broken out in one of the school bathrooms.
With the fire alarms sounding, the students were evacuated from the school, congregating outside as they waited for the fire brigade to arrive. No-one was hurt. The staff member said the fire began at around 11.30 a.m. and was quickly brought under control.
The blaze follows one in February, which also began in a toilet cubicle, in which choking black smoke billowed along an adjoining corridor.
One of the students Oldcourt native Brendan O’Neill was hailed the hero of the February fire after risking his life to help his friend Lee Brandon, who was on crutches, to safety from the top of the building.
The exact cause of the latest fire is as yet unknown. Neither of the fires caused any serious damage.
