Heartless vandals smear headstones with paint

Bray People - - Bray People -

CRUEL vandalism at graves in St. Gabriel’s Cemetery in Arklow has caused grief for a number of families after thick black paint was smeared across headstones this week.

The painting defaced at least four headstones, much to the concern of loved ones, including Teresa Kavanagh from Seaview Avenue who on Wednesday was dis- traught to find the family plot ruined with gloss paint which has rendered the carved lettering almost illegible.

‘I could not believe what I saw. It looks dreadful and we have no idea if we will be able to clean it off or not.’

This is the latest in a series of disturbing acts of vandalism at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery in recent weeks.
