Kilkenny U-14s 28, Ark­low U-14s 31: Ark­low took the long road to Kilkenny on Satur­day to do bat­tle with Kilkenny. And bat­tle they did.

Af­ter ten min­utes Ark­low made the break­through. Quick rucked ball on the half way line the ball was spread wide to An­drew Do­ran who out sprinted the de­fence to score un­der the posts. From the kick-off Ark­low at­tacked again and a good break by Ma­son Mid­dle­ton put An­drew Do­ran in the clear and score. Ark­low led by 12 points af­ter 20 min­utes.

Kilkenny at­tacked Ark­low and scored a try, which was con­verted, af­ter good for­ward work. Ark­low again stepped up the at­tack af­ter winning a line out Michael O Scan­naill fed the back line and again put An­drew Do­ran in the cor­ner. Jamie was just short with the con­ver­sion.

Kilkenny went straight into at­tack mode again and due to slack tackling by the Ark­low backs let Kilkenny sec­ond row in for a try which was con­verted. Ark­low were in front by just three points at half-time.

The sec­ond half be­gan with Ark­low on the at­tack. Af­ter a quick break by scrum-half Michael O Scan­naill again fed An­drew Do­ran who sprinted in un­der the posts for a con­verted try.

From the en­su­ing kick-off Ark­low knocked on and good ref­er­ee­ing al­lowed ad­van­tage and Kilkenny scored un­der the posts for an­other con­verted try.

From a quick tap penalty, Ark­low‘s Tom Scarfe broke through the Kilkenny line to moved the ball on to who else but An­drew Do­ran and again he placed the ball un­der the posts. The con­ver­sion eased the pres­sure on Ark­low who now led 31-28.
