Roundwood on target against St. Anthony’s

Bray People - - Bray Sport -

DIVISION 2 Roundwood FC 4, St. Anthony’s B 2: Although they have played more games than their rivals, this win now sends Roundwood to the top of Division 2.

Confidence would have been sky high for the Kilcoole side after a big win last week but the Vartry Grounds are always a difficult place to go and they found this out the hard way.

Ross and Darren Hackett both scored for the visitors but the hosts earned the three points after a Luke Ferguson double and goals from Robert Eyre and Thomas Fitzpatrick. Fassagh Row YC 7, St. Patrick’s 0: Football really is a funny old game. Last week Fassagh Row were on the end of a comprehensive defeat and this week they welcomed St. Patrick’s to Bray and ran out 7-0 winners.

Pat’s may be missing some players due to their GAA responsibilities but to lose by seven goals is something that shouldn’t happen. Arklow United B 0, Avonmore FC 3: Avonmore went into this clash on the same points as their opponents but this win has launched them to within a point of top spot.

A trip to Ferndale Park is never easy but the visitors made light work of their day’s work and won the three points due to Eugene Dunne’s two goals and Stephen Porter’s effort. Enniskerry YC B 2, Redbank United 2: Two sides who haven’t exactly made flying starts to their new seasons were forced to be content with a share of the spoils after meeting at Berryfield last Sunday.

Redbank took the lead on 19 minutes before being pegged back by a Craig Williams goal. United went ahead once again only to concede a goal in the 65th minute from Ger Harvey.

Andrew Carstairs scored for Redbank from the penalty spot and Valdas Gruselionif’s stunning 25-yard free kick made up the other goal.
