County to get suicide prevention officer again

Bray People - - Bray People -

AFTER an extensive campaign, lobby group Wicklow Against Suicide has announced the forthcoming return of a suicide prevention officer to the county, followng a meeting with the Junior Health Minister Deputy John Moloney at Dail Eireann last week.

‘We have taken this campaign to the highest levels,’ said chairman Wayne Flanagan Tobin, who lost his own father to suicide. ‘We put up a very strong case in the Dail last Wednesday which resulted in the Minister coming to the county just five days later.’

Mr. Flanagan Tobin said that the meeting had been told that it is hoped an officer will be in place by December. ‘The Minister listened to the concerns in a genuine manner and we found it very positive,’ he added.
