Anger mounts over yellow box dilemma
MEMBERS OF Bray Town Council were left angered by the response given by the town engineer to two motions.
The two motions requested that yellow boxes be put in place at two separate junctions on the Vevay Road. Councillor Bríd Collins proposed the motion that a yellow box be put in place at the junction of Seacrest Road.
‘I don’t understand what the problem is here because there was already a yellow box put there but it has faded and for the engineer to say that it isn’t warranted is wrong. I’m asking the engineer to revisit this and to come back to me as soon as possible,’ responded Cllr Collins.
Councillors Caroline Burrell and Steve Matthews proposed a similar motion for a yellow box to be put outside the Charnwood estate to facilitate the clinic there. The response from the town engineer was the same, that there is a constant queue of traffic on the Vevay Road and so a yellow box is not warranted.
‘This is very disappointing and if it is the case that there is a constant queue of traffic then we should be looking at a traffic management plan,’ said Cllr Burrell.
