THE MORAL decision of a Bray man to take drugs away from his young cousin saw him leaving court last week with two fines.

Garrett O’Brien, 89 Cloverhill, Bray, was before the court on two charges of unlawful possession of drugs at Wolfe Tone Square West on October 20 last year. O’Brien pleaded guilty to having cannabis and cocaine on his possession.

The Defence Solicitor Mr. Conway O’Hara told the Judge that O’Brien did have a bad history with drugs but the cocaine and cannabis found on him he had taken off his young cousin to stop him from taking them.

‘You could have flushed them down the toilet,’ said Judge Murrough Connellan to the defendant.

‘I know Judge but I didn’t have time,’ replied O’Brien. For possession of cannabis O’Brien was fined ¤100 and for possession of cocaine he was fined ¤250 with both substances being retrieved to the state for disposal.
