AN ARKLOW motorist who drove on the wrong side of the road and hit a wall has appeared at District Court. Francis Molloy from 49 Rory O’Connor Place was charged with drunken driving and careless driving at Castlepark on January 18 of this year.

Sgt. Roisin Daly told the court that following reports of a car on the opposite side of the road which had crashed into a wall in the Castlepark area she attended the home of Molloy where she noticed damage to his vehicle.

He admitted that he was the driver.

The court heard that the defendant was never been in trouble before and that he had mixed alcohol and medication that day which was the cause of his behaviour.

A concentration of 61mcg of alcohol to 100ml of breath was noted in court.

Judge Murrough Connellan issued fines totalling ¤500 and a disqualfication for two years and one day.
