DIVISION 2 Veteran Noel McDonald struck twice while there was singles for both Kevin Moorehouse and Derek Hannigan. Lee Meanie netted for the hosts. Avonmore FC 7, Redbank United 1: Redbank United’s defensive woes were again exposed last Sunday after they were on the wrong end of a 7-1 scoreline.
Andy Carstairs got his side’s solitary effort but it was no match for a rampant Avonmore whose scorers on the day were Oliver Byrne (3), Larry Byrne, David Byrne, Dean Gahan and Stephen Porter.
Celtic Stars 0, St. Anthony’s 1: A Philip Brien goal was enough for St. Anthony’s to win the three points in this clash.
The Kilcoole side have now pulled away from the foot of the table thanks to Brien’s effort and it leaves Celtic Stars lurking in midtable on seven points.
Roundwood 3, Ballywaltrim FC 1: Roundwood kept their place at the top of Division 2 thanks to this two goal victory over the very young Ballywaltrim side.
Robert Eyre has been in the goals a lot this season and kept it up on Sunday with two more, while Tom Fitzpatrick also found the net.
St. Kevin’s 3, Arklow United 0: This win has now put St. Kevin’s within touching distance of first place and to make it even better, they have at least one game in hand on two of the other top four.
Arklow United are still in midtable having played seven games, won two and drawn one.
St. Patrick’s 3, Enniskerry YC 1: Enniskerry faced the long trip down the county to face St. Patrick’s last Sunday morning and came home with nothing to show for their efforts.
Craig Williams did score for the visitors, his second goal in as many weeks, but it wasn’t enough for any points as Johnny Arthur’s two goal haul and Stephen McAuley’s effort meant Pat’s were going to secure their third win of the season so far.
