Long parts company with Bray

KEITH LONG has parted company with Bray Wanderers. The former St. Pat’s and Bray Wanderers star had been Eddie Gormley’s assistant manager since day one but has now left due to work commitments.

Commenting on his departure, first team coach and possible replacement for Long Paul Osam said: ‘Keith left last week. He’s very busy in his job and with the current climate, the economic climate; he just needed to take a break away from it.’

The probable result of Long’s untimely departure will see Osam vacate the position until the end of the season and he would then be heavy favourite to get the job on a permanent basis next season. Osam however, was keeping tight lipped on the situation.

‘I don’t know (what’s going to happen). I haven’t spoken about that we just need to get the last few games out of the way and I don’t know what will happen after that to be honest with you.’

Whatever happens, Keith Long will be sorely missed around the Carlisle Grounds as he was almost becoming a piece of furniture at the Bray venue. His vast experience was always helpful and there aren’t many nicer men in the business.
