Parishes celebrate 150 years
THE Bank Holiday weekend saw the beginning of the celebrations of three local parishes.
Powerscourt Parish, Kilbride Parish and St. Mary’s Parish are all celebrating 150 years in existence this year.
To mark the special occasion the three parishes have come together to create a year of celebration.
On Friday the Parochial Hall in Enniskerry was transformed into a an art gallery filled with the work of some of the areas most talented artists.
At invitation only opening reception art lovers and locals from the Enniskerry and surrounding areas descended on the hall for a great opening night. The hall was open from 11.30 a.m to 5 p.m from Saturday to Monday October 26 giv- ing people the opportunity to browse the wonderful collections inspired by some of Wicklow’s most treasured pieces of scenery such as Bray Head and the Sugar Loaf.
All of the paintings on display were available to buy with the maximum price being € 750. All proceeds from the exhibition will go towards further celebratory events throughout the year.
