Parishes cel­e­brate 150 years

THE Bank Hol­i­day week­end saw the beginning of the cel­e­bra­tions of three lo­cal parishes.

Pow­er­scourt Parish, Kil­bride Parish and St. Mary’s Parish are all cel­e­brat­ing 150 years in ex­is­tence this year.

To mark the spe­cial oc­ca­sion the three parishes have come to­gether to cre­ate a year of cel­e­bra­tion.

On Fri­day the Parochial Hall in En­niskerry was trans­formed into a an art gallery filled with the work of some of the ar­eas most tal­ented artists.

At in­vi­ta­tion only open­ing re­cep­tion art lovers and lo­cals from the En­niskerry and sur­round­ing ar­eas de­scended on the hall for a great open­ing night. The hall was open from 11.30 a.m to 5 p.m from Satur­day to Mon­day Oc­to­ber 26 giv- ing peo­ple the op­por­tu­nity to browse the won­der­ful col­lec­tions in­spired by some of Wick­low’s most trea­sured pieces of scenery such as Bray Head and the Su­gar Loaf.

All of the paint­ings on dis­play were avail­able to buy with the max­i­mum price be­ing € 750. All pro­ceeds from the ex­hi­bi­tion will go to­wards fur­ther cel­e­bra­tory events through­out the year.
