WE MAY be in the middle of a recession but in Arklow that’s no reason to shun Christmas cheer.
The town enjoyed its very first taste of the festive season this week albeit a very early one when the public Christmas lights went up.
Main Street is now only a flick of a switch away from bright lights and jingling bells but however they won’t be turned on for some time yet.
Town Clerk Des Nichols says that an official switch-on date has yet to be decided but that the public and business community will be notified well in advance. A date in early December is expected to be chosen every soon.
