Woman gets €750 dumping fine
A FINE of €750 has been imposed on a Glenealy woman who was revealed to be the owner of domestic waste dumped illegally dumped at Shelton Abbey at Arklow District Court.
June Knowles from Harvey’s Lodge, Glenealy told the court that two bags of waste which she left outside her home were picked up and disposed of by another person and that she usually purchases the proper bin tags.
Peter Ryan from the Environment Section at Wicklow County Council told the court that he found the bags at an excavated site at Shelton Abbey on August 22, 2007 and that Knowles’ rubbish accounted for just a very small percentage of the total amount dumped.
He said that six pieces of evidence were found relating to June Knowles and two pieces relating to her business Horizon.
