Woman gets €750 dump­ing fine

A FINE of €750 has been im­posed on a Glenealy woman who was re­vealed to be the owner of do­mes­tic waste dumped il­le­gally dumped at Shel­ton Abbey at Ark­low District Court.

June Knowles from Har­vey’s Lodge, Glenealy told the court that two bags of waste which she left out­side her home were picked up and dis­posed of by an­other per­son and that she usu­ally pur­chases the proper bin tags.

Peter Ryan from the En­vi­ron­ment Sec­tion at Wick­low County Coun­cil told the court that he found the bags at an ex­ca­vated site at Shel­ton Abbey on Au­gust 22, 2007 and that Knowles’ rub­bish ac­counted for just a very small per­cent­age of the to­tal amount dumped.

He said that six pieces of ev­i­dence were found re­lat­ing to June Knowles and two pieces re­lat­ing to her busi­ness Hori­zon.
