LIFELONG Liverpool supporters Pat and Glen Yeates recently came face to face with two of their Kopite heroes Ronnie Whelan and Ian Rush at the Royal Hotel in Bray.

Hundreds of Liverpool fans from all over County Wicklow and Dublin made their way to Bray so they could bask in the presence of two of the greatest ever players to don the red Liverpool jersey. Both Whelan and Rush played for Liverpool during their peak years in the ‘80s, winning a host of trophies in the process, including numerous league titles and European Cup victories.

While Rush was quite possibly the greatest ever Liverpool goalscorer, Whelan played a vital role in midfield and was also an integral part of the Ireland team, scoring that magnificent goal against Russia in the glorious days of Euro 88.

The two legends talked to the crowd for at least three hours and were more than happy to swap stores and anecdotes.

A questions and answers session was also held.

Pat and Glen weren’t the only two Wicklow Town natives present, while other visitors arrived from Ashford, Glenealy and Rathnew as well.

Pat and Glen get to meet Liverpool legends Ian Rush and Ronnie Whelan.
