Diabetic faces charges of assaulting family members
ADJOURNED 64-YEAR-OLD WAS AGGRESSIVE TOWARDS GARDAI AT HOSPITAL
A 64-YEAR-OLD man who’s ‘ biggest fear’ is going to jail, pleaded guilty to three charges of assault and a charge of threatening and abusive behaviour at last Thursday’s district court.
George White of Derrynane, Ravenswell Road, faced charges of assault at St. Colmcille’s Hospital in Loughlinstown on October 10 last year.
The court heard White was at the hospital visiting his late mother who was very ill at the time when members of his family who he doesn’t get on with arrived at the hospital.
Words were exchanged and White became agitated and assaulted three of his family members. Gardaí were called to the hospital and White was verbally abusive and aggressive towards the Gardaí. The Defence Solicitor told the court White suffers from Diabetes and on the day had not taken his insulin.
White was taken to the garda station but as his health deteriorated he was taken to Loughlinstown Hospital. One of White’s two previous convictions that date back to the 1960’s, was assault of a Garda.
Judge Murrough Connellan adjourned the matter to April 20 to see if White comes to the attention of Gardaí.
